April 11, 2013 (Hillsboro, OR): After serving Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation (VGMF) for four years as its executive director, Christine Rontal will step down in July, 2013.
During Christine’s tenure, VGMF raised over $7,400,000 from local foundations, individuals and corporations with both FY 11-12 and 12-13 accomplishing record breaking revenues; brought 22 community members onto the Board of Directors; increased its largest major gift from $70,000 to $500,000; produced 15 major events and launched its first broad-scale marketing program. Christine was honored with the Portland Business Journal’s Forty under 40 award in 2011.
“Christine transformed the organization by adding necessary infrastructure, developing talent and increasing public awareness that has resulted in unprecedented success for the organization” said Board Chair, Laurinda Mackenzie.
Over the next three months, the Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation Board of Directors will conduct a search for its next executive director. The goal is to make a placement before Christine steps down to ensure overlap between the two leaders for a smooth transition.
