Virginia Garcia Hosts Special 40th Anniversary Reception for Founders, Governor

August 11, 2015

Cornelius, Ore.  – In recognition of 40 years since the doors to Virginia Garcia’s first clinic opened, a special reception will be held to honor a number of the founders and community activists who championed the clinic, named for six-year-old Virginia Garcia in 1975. The special event will give the floor to founders, their families and our first staff members to share their stories and memories, following a special presentation by Oregon Governor Kate Brown.

The event is part National Health Center Week, which is a weeklong campaign (August 9-15) to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s Community Health Centers.

To end the week, Virginia Garcia will also host a Health & Resource Fair on Friday, August 14th. The Fair, also in Cornelius, provides free health screenings and resources to all members of the community. The day will also feature a talent show, Zumbathon and Mariachi band.

Both events are open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
