Job Description:
At The Lund Report, we tell stories and lead discussions that impact Oregonians’ everyday lives — and we are looking for an energetic, gregarious and collaborative Development Manager to help spearhead our growth. The Lund Report operates a website providing important public-service journalism about pressing health care issues in Oregon and beyond. The nonprofit incorporates a sister entity, the Oregon Health Forum, devoted to educating the public and advancing health policy through discussion and debate.
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious development professional seeking to join a mission-driven organization that is working to improve the lives of Oregonians. You’ll help develop and grow the resources necessary to keep this small but dynamic organization thriving. You will work alongside a small, talented team of journalists and leaders who are passionate about their work. Launched in 2009, and funded through subscriptions, donations, and foundation support, The Lund Report is a must-read for health care professionals, academics, government officials and members of the public who follow health care.
The Oregon Health Forum, a program of the nonprofit, similarly works to elevate public awareness of pressing health care issues. It provides an important public venue for health care leaders, consumers, policymakers and advocates to collectively address timely health policy issues and interact with their colleagues and peers. Funding for OHF initiatives has historically come in the form of ticket sales, foundation support, and corporate sponsors.
Accountabilities:
The Development Manager stays up-to-date on trends in philanthropy, including for nonprofit public-service journalism organizations and health care-focused entities. They will work with the Director of Operations to set and meet development goals, which will include identifying prospects, cultivating major gifts and corporate sponsorships, and building our subscription and job board user base.
In addition to refining donor outreach, cultivation and engagement, they will assist in creating grant applications and completing the associated reporting. The Development Manager will also assist with content creation for fundraising materials including emails, impact reports, presentations, and other communications..
