What kind of experience may be helpful for our QMHP level positions?
Experience working/volunteer in mental health and/or SUD
Experience working in a behavioral healthcare setting especially nonprofit
Experience in case management
Experience in doing assessments
Experience using electronic medical or health record systems
Experience serving diverse populations and demonstrative ability to provide culturally appropriate services
Experience working with those involved in the criminal justice system
Crisis work experience
Prior experience in housing and homeless outreach
Knowledge, skills and abilities that QMHPs tend to bring into these roles are:
Able to conduct a Mental Status assessment and formulate a diagnosis according to the most current DSM
Demonstrative ability to provide culturally appropriate interactions in working with our consumers and colleagues
Ability to engage and provide culturally specific services
Bilingual in English and another language
Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, and principles of Illness Management Recovery, and skills to provide strength based practices.
Emotional IQ: Ability to effectively communicate and engage with others
Ability to be dependable
Respect client confidentiality
Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care
Knowledge of barriers to access services

Master's degree in a behavioral science field to qualify for QMHP
All QMHP qualified positions in the state of Oregon will need to be filled by incumbents who are officially certified or who meet eligibility qualifications to register with MHACBO as a QMHP.
