During the month of February, Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center will be celebrating National Children’s Dental Health Month by inviting new parents to participate in the monthly Baby Days program.

Virginia Garcia has become a leader in providing dental services to pregnant women and advancing early childhood hygiene and disease prevention in Oregon. The community health center offers comprehensive dental care to children up to age 21, both insured and uninsured, with the goal to establish a dental home for all children seen in our medical clinics.

“Children’s teeth are meant to last a lifetime,” said Virginia Garcia Dental Director Lisa Bozzetti. “With proper care, a balanced diet, and regular dental visits, their teeth can remain healthy and strong. Baby Days at Virginia Garcia provide an opportunity for parents to be directly involved with their children’s health and take action to prevent tooth decay.”

Baby Days

Baby Days are an opportunity for parents to actively participate in their children's dental health. Infants receive a comprehensive dental exam and parents participate in conference-style groups to learn about good oral hygiene practices for themselves and their infants as well as tips for baby bottle cavity prevention and nutrition. Locating dental care, even for a day, at the medical clinic is helping to build the bridge between dental and medical coverage. Baby Days began as a program of the Multnomah County Health Department and have since expanded to Virginia Garcia and other clinics across Oregon.

If someone from your media outlet would like to attend Baby Day, please contact Mike Westling at [email protected] or (503) 498-8161.
