Pamela A. Martin, PhD, Director of Oregon’s Addiction and Mental Health Division, to Speak About Oregon's Public Mental Health System at OHSU August 1

June 27, 2013 -- Pamela A. Martin, PhD, Director of Oregon’s Addiction and Mental Health Division, will speak about Oregon's public mental health system at the Oregon Health & Science University on August 1 at 7 PM.

A reception for Dr. Martin will be held prior to her talk at 6 PM.

The event is hosted by the Mental Health Association of Portland and sponsored by over twenty addiction and mental health agencies, churches, social justice groups and others.

Dr. Martin became the director of Oregon's Addictions and Mental Health Division at the beginning of May, after spending 35 years in the mental health field in New Mexico.

Martin served as the director of Medicaid Behavioral Health for the Lovelace Health Plan, a managed care plan in New Mexico. She's also worked as the director of criminal justice initiatives at ValueOptions, a mental health managed care plan and prior to that, worked with patients and families with chronic illnesses and disabilities, to help them manage the psychological issues they experienced.

From 1980 to 1997, Martin worked as a clinical psychologist for a group called Behavior Therapy Associates, an Albuquerque mental health clinic which she describes as integrating primary care with mental health.
