Oregon voters will decide on Jan. 23 whether to overturn $320 million in healthcare assessments intended to balance the state’s Medicaid budget.That vote takes place just two weeks prior to legislators convening in Salem again.
A Yes vote keeps the assessment on hospitals and health insurance in place while a No vote would repealed it. The issue became contentious during the last legislative session, with Republicans gathering enough signatures to place the issue on the ballot.
In preparation for this vote, Oregon Health Forum is bringing together panelists on Dec. 13 to discuss the ramifications of repealing vs. upholding this tax.
The event, which is being held at the Multnomah Athletic Club, gets underway with a buffet breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by an interactive panel discussion from 7:30-9 a.m,, and audience questions. Parking is free at the MAC, which is located at 1849 SW Salmon. .
