Mosbaek Begins Public Health Fellowship
December 17, 2009 -- Craig Mosbaek heads to Washington DC to begin a year-long fellowship in public health on December 26. Competition was stiff. More than 60 people from across the country submitted applications to the American Public Health Association.
“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity because I’m interested in the policy-making process,” said Mosbaek, who’s spent the past 15 years working in public health research for the Oregon Health Division. He’s also the board chair of Upstream Public Health and a board member of Community Health Partnership.
Initially, he’ll be trained at the Brookings Institute, then, in late January, be assigned to a Congressional committee that’s focused on healthcare reform. “I hope to help pass legislation that improves health and learn a lot about the political process so I can become a better advocate,” said Mosbaek, who’s created a blog – fellowcraig.wordpress.com – about his work.
