The Lund Report Adds A Watchdog Reporter

The Lund Report is ending the year on a high note: We’ve hired new talent. Ben Botkin,  a veteran statehouse and watchdog reporter with more than 15 years of experience, has come onboard as our new Senior Reporter.

Botkin has extensive experience, covering politics and legislative beats in Idaho, Nevada and Oregon. He also has reported on high-profile national stories like the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, the 2016 presidential conventions and the 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas.

He investigated criminal justice and state prison issues for Oklahoma Watch, a non-profit journalism outlet and early in his career, he covered local government and education beats.

Botkin has won multiple awards for investigative and enterprise reporting and covering stories on education, state budgets and criminal justice. You can expect to see him in Salem, where he’s based. Before joining The Lund Report, he covered Oregon state government for the Statesman Journal.

He’ll be covering the Legislature, health care policy and a range of other key topics. Send him your tips!
