Legacy Health Expands Women’s Services in South-Metro Area

June 10, 2013 -- Legacy Health announced today it will significantly broaden its services to women in the south-metro area with the opening of a comprehensive new women’s clinic in West Linn, Ore.  The clinic, which will officially open on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, will contain a satellite location of Legacy Medical Group – Surgical Oncology.   The clinic will offer local women unique gynecologic, mammography and cancer services as well as direct access to Legacy Health’s vast network of medical and breast health centers.  Legacy Medical Group – Women’s Specialties, formerly known as West Linn Women’s Clinic, is welcoming new patients and accepts many different health plans.

Legacy Medical Group – Women’s Specialties will provide routine health care services such as annual pelvic exams (including first exams for adolescents); cervical cancer screenings (pap smears); comprehensive family planning; menopausal management; and on-site mammograms and ultrasounds. The clinic’s highly-skilled team will also address more specialized health concerns including in-office gynecologic surgeries; evaluation and management of pelvic pain; pelvic prolapse; incontinence; transgender care; abnormal menstruation and abnormal pap smears.

Legacy Medical Group - Surgical Oncology

Legacy Medical Group - Surgical Oncology, which already has a location on the Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center campus in Northwest Portland, will open a satellite clinic at Legacy Medical Group – Women’s Specialties in July 2013.  Alivia Cetas, M.D. will join the team of experienced, board-certified female surgeons specializing in breast surgery.  Legacy Medical Group – Surgical Oncology is led by nationally-known surgeon Nathalie Johnson, M.D., FACS, who is also the medical director of Legacy Cancer Institute, and includes Jennifer Garreau, M.D. and Angela Lewis-Traylor, M.D. Dr. Cetas will provide women in the south metro special expertise in diagnosing and treating breast diseases, including breast cancer.  Her patients will have access to Legacy Cancer Institute’s proven treatments that meet the most rigorous national standards, nurse navigators to help support and guide patients through treatment, and specialists in survivorship and alternative therapies from the Legacy Cancer Healing Center.

The new West Linn-based clinic is comprised of a compassionate team of all female providers who offer varying expertise, experience and clinical interests.  From menopausal symptom management to teenagers with pelvic pain, the team will provide routine and specialized gynecological care for women and adolescents of all ages.

  

·         As the medical director of Legacy Medical Group – Women’s Specialties, Megan Bird, M.D. is a board certified gynecologist who has special interests in hormone therapy, menopause management, family planning, vulvar disease and transgender care.  She is a native Oregonian and has been practicing medicine in the Portland-metro region for seven years.

 

·         Practicing medicine for 18 years and caring for women in the south metro area for seven, Virginia San Miguel, M.D. is an established name in south-metro women’s health care.  She is fluent in Spanish and has special interests in menopausal management, adolescent care and laparoscopic gynecological surgeries.  Dr. San Miguel is a marathon runner and is originally from west Texas but now loves calling the Pacific Northwest home.

 

·         Melissa Pendergrass, M.D. will start at Legacy Medical Group – Women’s Specialties in September 2013.  Currently, she is a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellow at Legacy Health.  In addition to routine exams, Dr. Pendergrass’s special interests include addressing women’s fertility issues and performing minimally invasive gynecological surgeries. In fact, Dr. Pendergrass’s fellowship has allowed her to complete over 530 major gynecologic surgeries in less than one year. She completed her residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and went to medical school Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.   

 

·         Alivia Cetas, M.D. is a Legacy Cancer Institute surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer and will start seeing patients at Legacy Medical Group – Surgical Oncology’s West Linn satellite location in July 2013.  Dr. Cetas is dedicated to comprehensive surgical care for breast cancer prevention and treatment. She was born and raised in Oregon, has worked in the Portland area for the last five years.  Dr. Cetas enjoys the community and culture of the Pacific Northwest, including art, cooking, hiking, gardening and music.
