Tom Holt Joins Regence BCBSO

January 19, 2011 – Tom Holt has been named director of legislative and regulatory affairs in Oregon at Regence BlueCross BlueShield. In this role, Holt will focus on building relationships with legislators and community leaders and lead Regence’s efforts to collaborate with stakeholders on solutions for transforming health care.
 
“I am excited to welcome Tom, as he brings an impressive combination of legislative expertise and health care experience to our company,” said Jared Short, president. “As we continue the critical conversations in Salem about reform and the long term stability of our health care system, Tom will be an important voice for Regence and our members.”
 
Holt has more than 20 years of experience developing public policy, lobbying, developing public relations strategies and working as a newspaper editor. Prior to starting his own government affairs practice, he was a state government affairs manager for Schering-Plough Corporation, covering several western states. Earlier he was executive director of and principal lobbyist for the Oregon State Pharmacy Association.
 
Most recently he represented the physician assistants and the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems.
