December 21, 2010 -- Howard “Rocky” King will join the staff of the Oregon Health Authority in January, leaving the Department of Consumer and Business Services where he’s been a senior health policy advisor on healthcare reform since October 2009.

In his new role, King will work with Nora Leibowitz, Tina Edlund and Dr. Bruce Goldberg as a team member on the development of a health insurance exchange as well as other tasks and challenges.

Earlier, King created and ran the Oregon Medical Insurance Pool for two decades, which provides coverage to people who are denied insurance because of pre-existing conditions. The Family Health Insurance Assistance Program, which was also under his leadership, helps uninsured Oregonians pay their monthly premiums.
