Kulongoski Names Goldberg to Head Reform Transition

July 8, 2009 -- Governor Ted Kulongoski today issued Executive Order 09-11 delegating Bruce Goldberg, M.D. as his representative to lead the consolidation and realignment of the state’s human and health care services. Dr. Goldberg is the current director of the Oregon Department of Human Services and will retain those duties.

“Dr. Goldberg will bring to health care the same creative thinking, commitment to improvement, and fiscal controls he brought to the Department of Human Services,” said Governor Kulongoski.

Today’s action marks the first step in carrying out the provision of House Bill 2009 – legislation passed by the 2009 legislature to improve the quality and consistency of health care, provide greater accountability to the public for resources spent in the health care system and begin serious steps to transform Oregon’s health care system.
