Dr. John Moorhead, who works in the emergency department at Oregon Health & Science University, has been chosen by the Oregon Health Policy Board to lead a 23-member health care work force committee.

Ann Malosh, dean of Linn-Benton Community College, is the vice-chair. The committee is charged with ensuring that Oregon’s healthcare work force is adequate, including physicians, dentists, nurses, mental health workers and other health professionals.

Steve McNannay, a member of the Oregon Educators Benefit Board, will chair a health purchasing committee on behalf of the Oregon Health Policy Board. Eventually the Oregon Health Authority hopes to combine the purchasing power for all publicly-funded programs. Approximately 850.000 people would qualify, including school teachers, state employees, people on the high risk pool, and people on the Oregon Health Plan, Healthy Kids and the Family Health Insurance Assistance Program.
