Most recently, he was a program supervisor at Multnomah County Health Department, where he has managed the Healthy Communities by Design project. Previously, he was the American Heart Association’s state director of government relations. In 2010, Queral was appointed by Governor Kitzhaber to the state’s Public Health Advisory Board, and also serves as a board member of the Oregon Environmental Council.
A native of Mexico, Queral has a law degree from George Washington University Law School, an MS in Biological Sciences from Northern Illinois University and a BA in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia.
As program officer at NWHF, Alejandro will work in the area of public health, including public health infrastructure, and improving population health by addressing the social determinants of health.
“I’m thrilled at the opportunity to work on issues that will have such a profound impact in communities throughout Oregon,” he said, adding that he looks forward to working to help reduce pervasive health disparities that hamper people’s potential to thrive in every aspect of their lives.
